Here are some of the available programmes in ACJC. Where possible, details about these have been provided.
Scholars Development Programme
Purpose:
To groom potential scholars in their interview as well as to introduce and expose students to the many public sectors and scholarships available
Criteria:
Good J1 Promo grades
Excellent conduct
Strong leadership
Singaporean Citizen or PR
Pre-University Seminar
Activities Done:
Groups are tasked to brainstorm solutions that help tackle pertinent issues our nation faces (e.g. 2019’s theme was with regards to the 4th Industrial Revolution) over a 3 to 4 month period
Criteria:
Group interviews are conducted as part of the selection process
Participants are expected to be articulate with their ideas and open to working with new people
Singaporean Citizen or PR
Benefits:
Opportunity to interact with students from various JCs, international schools and polytechnics throughout the course of the project
Overseas Community Involvement Programme (OCIP)
Activities Done:
(Pre-COVID19) 3 countries involved: Chiang Mai, Bintan and Phnom Penh
Usually, it is either to craft lesson plans for the students there, or to be involved physically (such as to paint or to build the facilities)
Criteria:
Good J1 Promo grades
Able to contribute to the programme
Required to write a short paragraph about yourself for the selection round
Depending on the number of students applying, an interview may be conducted
Science & Math Olympiads
Singapore Chemistry Olympiad: allows you to study the H3 Chemistry syllabus and learn more about Chemistry at the university level
Singapore Physics Olympiad: similar to Singapore Chemistry Olympiad
Singapore Mathematical Olympiad: the competition will be conducted at NUS around June, set at the university level of difficulty (do note that for SMO, no training is provided by the school)
Research Projects
Singapore Science and Engineering Fair: a research project whereby you are under a mentor to conduct research at the university level; finalists are given the opportunity to present the project in ACJC
Nanyang Research Programme: a mentorship programme by NTU offering a wide range of topics to choose from that range from Mathematical and Natural Sciences to Social Sciences
